Research and Development
Research and Development
The Institute is involved in research, both independently and in cooperation with other organizations. Stefán Hrafn Jónsson is division director of the Research and Development Department.
The major aims of the Institute’s research are
- To evaluate the effectiveness of public health projects, especially those done by the Institute itself. This enables the Institute to both develop and re-evaluate methodology and thereby improve work done by the Institute.
To follow developments in health and health-related matters among the nation and publish findings in an easily accessible format for all those involved in the nation’s public health.
The Institute is in the process of creating health indicators for Iceland that will make it possible to make comparisons internationally. To begin with this is only being done in the areas the Institute is responsible for. However other health indicators will at a later stage be created in cooperation with relevant organizations.
